My iPad is called Mommy's Toy and my Kindle is called Mommy's book. Little Man is 16 months and I want him to know that I am reading. I cannot read on the iPad, I get distracted by games, the internet, email, and other random stuff. So when the LM sees me sitting with my Kindle and wanders over with a toy or a book, I make sure to reference that I am putting down my book to read/play/tickle/cuddle with him.

I learn verbally, I have to hear it and repeat it for it to stick for me. When I am reading to learn, audio books work great or I read aloud. When I am reading for pleasure and I am less interested in remembering everything, I read silently.
