I don't think it has anything to do with the pinholes, but I would use a screen protector (especially if you don't use a cover), as with the new Aura the screen is not recessed, and the plastic cover risks scratchin (can't remember who did, but somebody did report scratches on the surface after using the new Aura with no cover)
