Sorry if this seems... badly worded or hard to understand.. (I'm very tired and not thinking too straight, sure you all know the drill), but I have an issue with a kindle keyboard 3g model. It sat on the headboard for awhile, so I assumed it was a dead battery, let it charge for over a day, nothing.. it doesn't respond to the power button. I thought, alright, maybe sitting has actually killed the battery... I've went through 2 brand new batteries, nothing, charging ~2 days each.
The issue is this; Plug it in, orange light comes on.. (during testing I tried this with the battery out, orange light comes on without a battery too). After it charges for around 8 or so hours, the LED goes out NOT green. Tapping the power slide does nothing, except holding it to 'reset' the device, the orange LED goes out after 15 seconds and I CAN hold Volume down to get my Win7 machine to read the SE Blank RINGO device.
After figuring this out, I thought somehow the firmware got frazzled, so I've tried Kubrick via Virtual Machine and USB disk. I've also tried using ATK (after fighting drivers in a Windows XP VM, it tells me device not supported/reset device)
Another oddity, it seems to reset every say, 2 minutes. Dictated by the sound of unplugging/replugging a USB in Windows 7, and it also disconnects it from the VM. I CANNOT access it via USB to get my books off of it either, if it's not in USB Download mode, nothing reads it.
The screen NEVER changes, although it shouldn't be broken, moisture infected, etc. It was in a case (3rd party case) on the headboard and was working last it was touched. It just sits at the silly man under the tree with the kindle meaning.
For the tl;dr people.. LED never shows green (no matter how many taps/holds/several day charges) just orange for about 5~8 hours after plugging it in, or 'resetting' it with the slider while still plugged in, light turns off after unplug and doesn't come back on unless plugged in.
Attempted Kubrick via USB and VM, and attempted ATK. Kubrick jumps from 0% to Flash Finished instantly when it flashes kernel or rootfs.
I'm used to working with cellphones (Dumb/Android) and PCs.. silly kindle stuff annoys me... Any ideas from anyone?
