This looks the closest to the Brother labeler that I have (I've had mine for quite a few years now):

It uses the Brother M-series non-laminated tape which I've seen sold at Staples and other office supply stores. The tapes are some sort of thin plastic. I use the "black on white" tape. I only use it for labels on cords, plastic storage drawers, and for binders, so the tape lasts me for quite a while
Since the various device cords are usually thin, I just put the cord up against the middle, narrow length of the cord, and fold the two halves of the label against each other, sort of how the plastic bags used for bread loaves and carrots are sealed. If you stick the label along the length of the cord you usually have to wrap it over itself, which can cover up the printing, since the choice of tape sizes are 3/8" and 1/2".
