Yes, try that. I have seen that resolve the issue you mention when it occurs occasionally. No need to put iFunBox anywhere but on your regular computer. (iFunBox relies on iTunes being installed in the background, though. iTunes does
not need to be running, but it needs to be present, installed on the computer for iFunBox to work properly. Any version of iTunes will do, even an old one.)
PS: Unless it's Windows 8.1 acting up, which would not surprise me for such a horrible OS.
