True. The Bronte sisters made up their own fairy land as children if I remember correctly, and though he wasn't a child himself Kenneth Graham's "Wind in the Willows" came about because his son didn't want to go without his stories about Mr. Toad etc. while on holiday with his nurse. Mr. Graham wrote them out in letters which the nurse preserved and the rest is history.
