There is nothing wrong with the current version (no flood of reports) which leads me to believe: Corrupted download.

In one case (in 3+ years) something got left behind in the Calibre2 folder that caused problems on an upgrade.

It does not hurt to delete the calibre2 folder AFTER you have uninstalled the proper way.
