If you're going from the 700 (a reader with a built-in light) to the 600 (one without a built-in light), then I would forget about the 600 and go with the sharper screen of the 650.

ADDED: If you're certain you want a Sony, then you should be looking at the newer models, in my opinion, and simply avoid the 600 and 650.

HOWEVER (caps intended), if you really want a lighted reader (and you don't mind looking at the competition), then you should avoid the Sony 600 and/or 650 and think about names like Amazon and Kobo.

The ultimate decision is, of course, yours.
