Here, it is far more common to refill the cartridges. For every shop selling new carts, there are 20 shops selling either bottles of ink or offering refill service. With the service, the cost is about 1/4 of a new cartridge. DIY with a large bottle, and the cost is about 1/8. Two minute job to DIY, but if you aren't careful it gets messy. As long as you purchase the correct brand ink (Epson ink, Canon ink, etc.) for your printer, the color match is perfect. 5 years ago there was often a problem with the replacement inks clogging, but that doesn't seem to be the case any longer.
