Yes, they are short stories, and quite enjoyable too. Only the first one seems to leave with a sort of cliffhanger, but the other five are more complete.
You get to understand the world they are showing little by little, which is not bad. As the author also says, there are people who do not show up in the first two books, which are on sale now. All in all a quick enjoyable read.
I am reading the second one now, with an additional 4 prequel and the standard is still good.
Since it is also free, it is a good bargain.
