I have found that too, but it probably does depend specifically on each device, there are good and bad.

I love my iPad Mini (1st gen), but for reading books, I'm glad I have the Glo. My daughter was in hospital overnight a couple of months ago, and I spent several hours reading on the iPad. By the time my husband came with supplies (including my Glo), the Mini's battery was severely drained. I got to continue reading to my heart's content on the Glo and really appreciated it for that purpose. I rarely use the iPad for reading now, but still have it available.
