I'm updating as we speak. Not that it's really necessary right now, but sometimes new firmwares also have undocumented bugfixes. (Or undocumented bugcreations....
)
I can't imagine why anyone would like to completely disable reading progress. If I'd do that, I'd feel I was reading into oblivion. There is no sense of where you are in the book.
In a paper book, you'd obviously have the left and right stacks of paper, even without page numbers.
