Have you considered adding speaker independent, voice recognition, control?

In 1991 I assisted the owner of the 110 foot "boat" (anything over 100 feet is actually called a "ship") Alpha Centauri with such a system.

Twenty years ago it required specialized computer equipment, provided by Voice Control Systems of Dallas, Texas.

Today, it can be done with a Kindle touch.
