I agree. I applaud it, actually. No reason to upgrade --or change paradigms--just for the sake of doing so.

But there is one huge caveat: You need to be PREPARED to change and upgrade when that old system finally dies. Don't leave your business processes in limbo when you can't readily find replacement hardware, or support for long-defunct software.
