All of my ebooks can be read on any device because I remove the DRM (if it exists) and convert to whatever device I want. Most of my stuff is sideloaded through Calibre, so I have no need to have wifi on anyway. If you have already converted your stuff to epub, it would take minutes to covert ALL of them into mobi for your reader without effort. Set it up, go eat your dinner, and it will likely be done by the time you've finished washing the dishes.
Greasy fingerprints are EASY to wipe away with a microcloth. My Mom also had that issue, but using a stylus was too annoying when all she was doing was reading. It's easy to keep one right by your nightstand if you need it.
Unfortunately, if you want a device that has buttons AND is lighted, you are stuck with getting the older technology. You can, however, also purchase one of those lights that clip on either the ereader or the cover that you purchase. The Nook Simple Touch, alas, I'm told no longer has buttons. The Kindle 6 inch still does, but no light. I use the Amazon 6 inch daily and made my own cover adding a M-light for those rare instances where I need added lighting.
edited to add: Ok.. it seems that the Kindle 6 inch is what you are all referring to as the Kindle NT.
