For e-ink pdf, I'd go with a tablet OR an Ipad. It is the primary reason why I kept my Nook tablet when I no longer needed the other features. It isn't just because of the larger size, but the apps you can get that let you make notes and links. There are several for android devices. I would also look to see what is available for the Ipad and make your decision based on what works for your specific needs rather than the advantages/disadvantages of any one brand.
