So, I've tried it and it works fairly well. It seems to only show the last term it finds with the matching alias, but that's ok as long as it doesn't break anything.
I've noticed though that the shelfari page already includes lots of aliases, for example:

What would be great is if the plugin could use these to create the initial aliases file. For the example above, it would look something like this:
Arya Stark|Princess Arya,Arya Underfoot,Arya Horseface,Arry,Weasel,Nan,Squab,Salty
Would it be possible to add such a feature in a future version?
