For the Calibre plug-in, yes, you can just edit the file manually, then re-run the X-Ray creation using the edited file, and you'll get a new X-Ray file using the aliases.
I don't know what'll happen here, I don't imagine it'll work terribly well.

OK, thanks. I'll try what happens with duplicated aliases, and if it doesn't work well, I'll create a file with unique aliases only.
