@jhempel24: I suspect there is some mess in the data structure associated to the Horror collection. I would remove it completely and recreate it afterwards. I recommend the following steps:
- create a new collection, named "H";
- manually move all books from collection "Horror" to collection "H"; take care, select the books one-by-one and assign to collection "H" in batches; if there is an option to select all, do not use it, as it may probably move the mess as well;
- when you are here, all books from "Horror" are in "H"; remove the "Horror" collection, and rename "H" to "Horror";
- now assign your denied books to "Horror".

I know, it sounds overkill, but if my assumption is correct, this is your safe bet. Had I have your problem, I would pursue this course of action.
