I don't think the newer systems even interests us or the idea of cloud gaming. We just got Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii and hubby just hated the idea of letting anyone visit his town. So you see we are not into social gaming.
I read the 40GB or 60GB are backwards compatible so I might have to visit eBay on this one. Still I am keeping the eye out on the newer models if they go low enough then I just might get one and have to keep the PS2. We still have our Gamecube which we never use.  The Wii will play those.

Back in the day, the first gen 60GB PS3 was highly sought after because it has hardware support for PS2 games, i.e. it contains a PS2 on a chip. The first gen 80GB PS3 (with 4 USB ports & memory card slots) offered software emulation support for PS2 games. That's the one that I bought back then.
If you try to find one of those units (that supports PS2 games) you'll end up paying quite a premium. I'd suggest keeping the PS2.
