How I determine who an Australian or New Zealand author is ....

- a person who was born in either Aus or NZ;

- a person who has moved to either Aus or NZ;

- a person who was born in either Aus or NZ and then moved to another country to live;

The books of these authors may be about events in Aus or NZ, or may be about events in any other country.

This seems a fairly broad identification of an Aus or NZ author, but it seems to conform with how the publishing industry determines the nationality of an author.

Adrian McKinty, for example, was born in Belfast, has lived in the US, now lives in Melbourne and was shortlisted for the 2013 Ned Kelly awards.
