I'm not sure how ASINs apply to recipes, but this might not be viable for all users, as detailed below.
Some folks don't like to use ASINs (Amazon ID#'s) because Amazon is, behind the scenes, verifying that any ebook with a valid ASIN has Amazon's preference for the book name and cover image. Whenever the ebook viewer connects to Amazon, any custom name/cover the user specifies on their device is completely ignored and changed to Amazon's value. These changes to the user's library are made without notice, without warning and without user inter-action or approval.
More than one calibre user has gotten into a "renaming war" with Amazon in this manner and thought calibre was at fault. So far the only way to prevent this problem is to remove the ASIN. Or, to paraphrase Taylor Swift, to "never, ever, ever" connect the device to the internet again.
Implementing this would require a new setting (tweak or preference) be added to toggle usage of this feature. Otherwise it would renew the "renaming war" that some users have experienced.
