Hi everybody. First post here!

Is it possible to Jailbreak the Kindle Paperwhite 5.3.8 firmware without downgrading it? There are many tutorials about downgrading to 5.3.5 before jailbreaking, then upgrade back to 5.3.8.

And, if the only way is downgrading... I know that a risk always exists, but considering I am developer and a experienced linux user, should I be afraid of doing it?
