I had this happen once and solved by factory reset, then only way I could get reader to start was without external SD card. I then had to reformat SD card then load books in small batches from Calibre.

Another time I had corrupted hard drive. I had a windows utility repair the hard drive file system with no loss of data on the hard drive.
