Did you get a firmware update around the time it stopped working? You might want to connect your Kobo to the computer and then run error checking on the drive (just scanning the drive without the automatically fix errors option) to see if it comes up with any problems.

Otherwise, try the Kobo on a different computer to see if it mounts and reads on that computer.

That applet may help. Just before I upgraded the desktop to Windows 7, the last AMD video driver package installed an updated USB filter driver. Before that, I had spent time using Google to locate sites that had USB filter driver and the AMD chipset matching my motherboard.
