I agree with what the other David said. It sounds like a problem with the book rather than the device. Another test to do is send another book. I suggest getting an epub from the library here at MR and sending that. These are generally well constructed books. Plus, if there is any problem with it, we can download it and test.

I just looked at the line of code the error refers to. Can you open that book with the calibre viewer?
