Going by what you posted and davidfor's response, your database is okay. The file you are trying to convert is the issue and it is never being sent to your Kobo. You might want to download epubcheck and it's GUI or Sigil (built-in Flightcrew epubchecker) to check the file out before you blow away your database.

It's also possible that you have a corrupted file which re-downloading might fix.

One quick question is if you simply drop the book on your Kobo as a .epub, does it work or does your Kobo hang while trying to process it?
