It seems to me that the heart of the problem is that Sony is no longer prepared to keep chasing the price downwards. As residents of countries other than the US have often noted the cost of items such as this are much less in America than they are in the rest of the world.

Obviously I have no idea what it costs Sony to manufacture, ship and market the T3 but I'm guessing that it is more than the $99 that appears to be the price point to sell in the States.

Personally I applaud Sony for their stance on this - maybe it will make people realise if you want a premium product you have to pay a premium price for it.
