I haven't got Digital Editions on my PC, but I downloaded, installed and Adobe authorised BlueFire Reader on my Kindle Fire and so when I tapped download in the Silk Browser it then offered to handle the download which it did

So I never involved my PC or Flash at all.

Of course I already had the Overdrive App authorised but it refused to handle a PDF, hence BlueFire.
