You might've had a lucky escape. The Nook salesman at my local B&N was an interesting mix of cluelessness and misinformation, and it really did seem that his primary job was to sell Nooks. I used to be in there quite often browsing the pbooks and I never saw him anywhere else in the store.
If you read up on the device here and then play with it in person, you probably don't
need anyone to sell it to you. I bought the Nook ST (my first ereader) that day despite the salesman, not because of him.
I later bought the Nook Glow. After seeing this ugly new white Nook with its lack of an SD card, I can only hope that Kobo cleans up their QC and customer service before I'm ready for a new frontlit reader.
