I vastly prefer my PW2 to my PW1.

My PW1 had significant color blobbing, my PW2 does not.
The lighting is much more even on my PW2.
I notice an improvement in contrast with my PW2.
I prefer the warm tone of my PW2, which looks more like a real book to me.
My PW2 is noticeably faster.
The lower end of brightness selections on my PW2 start darker, so I have more options to adjust through when I'm reading at night. (i.e., I'll usually start at 8, then as my eyes adjust, go down to about 5)
Although these are software features that might come to the PW2 later, I'm enjoying the page flip and vocabulary builder functions.

Overall, the only things I miss from my PW1 are the things that require a jailbreak, like the screensaver hack and JBpatch. And custom fonts, but at least embedding is an option to work around that.
