The PW battery is said to last for weeks, but is it better for the battery to charge frequently?

I ask only because after two years my previous reader, the Sony T-1, began to suddenly lose charge while still showing multiple bars on its indicator. For almost two years I charged it only when needed, every few weeks.

Is is better for the PW battery to charge frequently or infrequently?
