Sony firmware is stable now. There was only a major issue with the initial release of the T1 which they fixed pretty quickly. Both brands have their occasional glitches, and I'd say they are equally stable.

The OP has been struggling with a series of posts in the last few months to get advice on how best to optimize note-taking with his Sony readers. I sympathize for what he is trying to achieve. The Evernote integration is cool and allows for backup of notes. However if you want to be able to restore your notes in the future then you have to sync with the Sony Reader for PC / Mac software which is frustrating to use and not as smooth as the old Reader Library was.

The Kindle definitely has the best note-taking synchronization features presently. Everything is backed up to the cloud, and you can view it on the cloud. Most important of all to me is that I can take notes on my Paperwhite and then later read in the Kindle app on my iPad and iPhone and those same notes are there too. It just works. Sony has with their latest models and desktop software not made this same process smooth. Odd because it did work with the old Reader Library and my old 950.
