Both my 6 inch and my keyboard kindles have great battery life provided I leave the wifi OFF. If I don't think I will use the unit for a couple of days, turning it off helps as well.
Its hard to compare with the touch ones because they put a better battery in them so it's almost apples and oranges. However, my mom gets a lot more battery life out of her PPW if she shuts it off each night rather than just letting it sleep (she does not read in bed). This was not a big issue with my units.
