I agree with VydorScope. If the stories are resolved within themselves there is no need to join them together. And a character just remembering something that happened in another story doesn't mean they have to be linked. Stephen King had two characters in Delores Clairborne sense each other during an eclipse of the sun but one of them didn't really appear as a character til Gerald's Game and I can't recall if she even remembered the event in D.C. during the course of the novel. Certainly it didn't really have anything directly to do with her problem in GG.
