Still, if I were serious about a PS3, I'd want the earlier model that allows you to rip SACDs for as long as you refrain from updating the FW. To my knowledge, nothing else does that.
I am looking at the older models currently because of PS2 compatibility. I read the newer ones just don't work with previous generations and I would like to get rid of the PS2 but if the PS3 wont play our games then that just complicates everything.

I don't think the newer systems even interests us or the idea of cloud gaming. We just got Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii and hubby just hated the idea of letting anyone visit his town. So you see we are not into social gaming.

I read the 40GB or 60GB are backwards compatible so I might have to visit eBay on this one. Still I am keeping the eye out on the newer models if they go low enough then I just might get one and have to keep the PS2. We still have our Gamecube which we never use. The Wii will play those.
