"Political" explanations of this kind do not stand the test of time. They are more than once used by developers to hide sheer incompetence and taken as God's word over and over.

Sounds harsh? At least I have a clear example: apply Kobo Patcher v 0.7 to Kobo Glo v 2.8.1 and the so-called long paragraph bug is gone... (among other goodies). It has been told many many times that this bug was a legacy from God knows whom and could not be tackled. Well, have a look please
