The OP explicitly state he wanted the file name on the Kobo for sorting on the device. That sounds like the real requirement. Actually, it sounds like the real requirement is "Populate the title with the text I want to use for sorting". And personally, it sounds like the OP is only using calibre as a way of updating the metadata in the epubs so that the Kobo device can read them.

For those reasons, made suggestions that might help achieve what is wanted. And I asked questions because if I know the real requirements, I might be able suggest a better way of doing it.
