190 WPM is not that slow. 550 WPM is really fast The average adult reads 300WPM and you are not that far behind Sub vocalization seems to be your problem. Add some distraction. Read while the news or your favorite TV show is on, You won't read much this way but it will kill the sub vocalization in time.

And read more often. Practice helps and soon you will be reading a book a week
