Thanks for the information on the Surface Pro 2 - very useful. It's confirmed my thought that I really don't need to upgrade. I downloaded and installed the Windows 8.1 upgrade for it last Saturday. A painless upgrade, and a worthwhile improvement.

Re. keyboard:
Maybe you've got a tip for me:
Sometimes -I don't understand yet when and why- I've got an additional symbol on my onscreen keyboard.
Now, when trying to reproduce it, I couldn't make it appear.
It's in the lower left corner of the keyboard, in the area where now there's the smilie symbol.
It looks like a sun with rays. A square in the middle and some lines spread from the middle to the borders.
If I press it, the symbol changes. Almost looks like a recording symbol then.
I have no idea, what to make of this symbol.
And I have no idea, when or why it does appear.
Have you seen that as well? Any idea, what it's for?
I'll take a picture, if I see it again.
BTW: It has been there from the beginning, already before the update to 8.1.
