plugboard templates and book recognition

Hi,

Since this is a generic problem and not limited to iOS Reader Application/MarvinXD I thought it better to post this as a separate topic

When you use a plugboard template to alter something in author/title, e.g. adding a series name and index, you run into the problem that when reconnecting the device, Calibre is not capable of determining that these same books came from Calibre and will not label/checkmark them as being in the Calibre library.

How do I cope with this sort of situation from a plugin writer viewpoint?

Is there any other method that I am unaware of or overlooking that will enable me to control this detection so it will also recognize these 'altered' copies?
