I've bought a PW today and I chose one I knew was probably a 1; Best Buy didn't make a distinction, and when I asked which it was they didn't know.
Screen quality was more important to me than it being the latest version. After reading about pinholes here and seeing a display model with one, I tested another and simply love it. It's as if the Sony T-1 has been scaled up in quality and function - but I realize that's only because it's my first Kindle. Didn't know what I was missing these past five years.
