I suppose there's one other factor that we've both studiously avoided mentioning: truth in advertising.

Anyway .... I just came in from outside (took the trash out) and it was amazing out there. Totally clear directly overhead ... tons of stars ... but to the Northwest, a HUGE thunderstorm with a great light show. Then, to top it off, as I'm watching the lightning, a meteor streaks overhead and breaks up in the atmosphere. It was very bright and a distinct orange-yellow color. Really beautiful.

For me, a "falling star" is one of the most special things to see (though I love thunderstorms as well, which we should start to get again soon). I hadn't seen any for years, other than a couple of minor streaks out in the bush at Oberon when we lived down south, but coming here we have seen two large "break-ups", one while driving at night along the Noosa-Eumundi road, coming home towards Noosa, and another at late-twilight over the sea, watched from the boardwalk on Main Beach. "Really beautiful" indeed. Did you make a wish?
Cheers,
Marc
