I kind of recall this MAYBE being linked to some weird "battery too low" issue, a sort of "failsafe" mode. Of course it could just be that the device has decided that "something is horribly wrong" and has dropped to this mode.
I have zero idea how to fix/check it though... That would be my thoughts.
