Lots of ifs, ands, and buts to this. From your PC or OTA? What kind of stuff? Since you're posting in an ebook forum can I assume you want to download ebooks? What reader software are you using?

FWIW I transfer ebooks 2 ways, both from my PC. Sometimes I'll put the card into my card reader & copy the ebooks into the Books folder on the card, then put the card back into my phone. Other times I'll connect the phone via USB cable, ensure it's in MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode, then use Calibre to transfer the books. Calibre is configured to transfer them into the Books folder on the card.

In either case I then need to go to my reader software (Moon+) and import the books into its catalog/database. Usually Moon+ defaults to the Books folder on the card because that's about all I import from. Sometimes (if I've done something different) I'll have to browse to that folder. Once I'm there though I just follow the prompts, i.e. it recognizes which books are new & asks which I want to import. And that's it, for me.
