For this to happen, Google would have to change to a real-time OS. I don't know why they didn't use RTLinux instead of Linux, unless it was licensing issues or perhaps RTLinux is incompatible with the Dalvik VM. iOS is a real-time OS (via the Darwin Kernel) as is Blackberry (uses QNX) and Windows CE. Even PalmOS was real-time.
