Can I plug my Kobo Touch into the electricity socket with my iPhone adaptor?

I have a Kobo touch. It's about a year old. It came with a USB cord to recharge it, but it takes forever to recharge -- up to two or three hours.

Would it be safe to use the adaptor that came with my iPhone? It plugs into the electricity outlet, but has a USB slot on the rear.

Please note: I am in Australia, so this is (as far as I understand) a 240volt adaptor running on an alternating current (240v A/C [not D/C]).
