I suppose if this is meant to be an "anti-plagarism" feature it may still fulfill that role reasonably well, since plagarists are inherently lazy and thus less likely to jump through the hoops to work around this.

Well if they're smart AND determined plagiarists... They've probably figured it out because there's no letup in plagiarism cases that I've seen.
