This is a major task! (but shouldn`t have to be)

I have the Blackmask DVD with about 11,000 .lit & .zip public domain ebooks and there is no easy way, unfortunately, to rename them to something more useful. I tried something but it took too long to do the entire DVD; only got half-way through. (I imported the index into Excel and parsed it based on position and/or special character)

Manually only works for a few; but not all files.

I remember looking at the PG book index list but, honestly, couldn't figure out how to extract the info I need to rename them as 'author - title'.

It's too bad they don't make this easy (for you to rename their cryptic filenames). You would think that if they did it ONCE, we wouldn't have to do this MANY times over.

Anybody manage to do this...
