Frank, I do not see this as a reason to return unless you want to wait for a driver update of some kind or a new version. I returned mine only to read this is somewhat common out here. I am almost afraid to test my replacement (from Best Buy) as CRAZY as that sounds! Not sure what I am waiting for so try not to ask
It should mount on the first attempt after waiting a long while between connections to you Mac. I cannot say it will re-mount upon subsequent and fast attempts. If it does not mount at all that is another story. I hope I helped.
